Fermi Class of 1998 Reunion Update

September 24th, 2008

They say that invites need to go out about 8 weeks prior to the event, so here’s your invite.

Tickets are priced as follows:
(1) $20 per ticket; or
(2)$15 a ticket if purchased in groups of 4 if purchased by October 15th.

What I mean, is that if you send me 1 check in the amount of $60 and the names of 4 people who will attend then you all get $5 off per ticket. It has to be 1 check and 4 names. I don’t care if you find people on facebook and go in together.

I hope to make up in numbers what I lose in price. Again, you own this. We have no money and I’m relying on you to promote this.

Please mail checks, along with your name, the names of people you are buying tickets for and your maiden name if applicable. You are allowed to bring 1 non-Fermi1998 guest.

Please send checks to:

Ryan McKeen
Leone, Throwe, Teller & Nagle
33 Connecticut Blvd.
East Hartford, CT 06128

I will not be mailing you a ticket. Rather, I will email you and put your names on a guest list.

There will be no tickets sold at the door. I will set a deadline. Early RSVPs will make planning this and ordering food so much easier. The earlier that you can RSVP and get me money the better.

Again, if cost is an issue for anyone, please send me a private/confidential message and I will work with you. I want everyone who wants to attend to be able to.

Best, Ryan

I’m feeling really optimistic that there’s going to be a great turnout for this event. It’s been great to have been contacted by so many classmates who I haven’t seen since graduation.

A few quick things:

1. I’m doing this all online. There will be nothing sent to where you live for a number of reasons: (a) finding and communicating with people online via this site, facebook, and email is both easy and effective; (b) most people don’t live where they lived 10 years ago making mailings not worth the effort; (c) we have no money; (d) I’m a one man committee at this point and am very busy with life. I anticipate that you will be able to both RSVP and pay for the event online.

2. I will be sending out evites with formal replies requested probably around the first week of October. Please, please sign up for Facebook, list yourself in the Fermi Class of 1998, friend me and I’ll invite you to the event page. I don’t care if you post a picture of yourself, friend anyone else, poke people or whatever one does on facebook - just please sign up. I don’t care if you never spoke to me in high school or didn’t like me - I promise I won’t bother you.

3. I’m going to keep this as cheap as possible. The more people who attend the cheaper it will be and the more food that I will be able to order. Wear jeans, drink beer, play pool, do shots and have fun - that’s what I’m going for. Leave your prom dresses and suits in the closet. I anticipate a ticket costing somewhere between $10 and $20 dollars a person (far cheaper than any event the class of 1998 has ever held either in or out of high school).

4. This is your reunion and I need your help. Please make your friends aware of this site and my relentless pleas for them to join facebook. The word is out about this but I still need your help.

I figured out that the easiest way to plan this reunion is through facebook.

I’ve sent up an event page there.

Please email me at rcmckeen@hotmail.com and I’ll send you the invitation. This way I can keep everybody up to date on everything.

I have yet to receive one email from anyone on this reunion.

Please send me your email. Doing so will make planning and promoting this a lot easier. I won’t ask you to help plan this, I promise. Nor is sending me your email in anyway construed as an RSVP.

Don’t wait, send me your email today!

rcmckeen@hotmail.com

Please help me promote this.

Our 5 year reunion was nice, but it left us with hardly any money to do a 10 year reunion. In fact, we started with something like $1500 in an account and at the end of the reunion we were down to about $200.

In fact, it was such a monetary loss that at the end of the reunion we decided not to do a 10 year reunion. We closed our account with $200 in it and donated it as a scholarship to Fermi High School.

If it wasn’t for me getting emails and questions about a 10 year reunion, I would not have planned one.

This will be my last reunion if it is not a success.

Here’s what I need from you to make it happen:

1. Promote, promote, promote. Email all of your Fermi contacts. If you see someone, tell them about this website. Call friends. Anything to get the word out. I WILL NOT BE MAILING ANYTHING TO ANYONE ABOUT THIS REUNION.

2. If you tell me that you are going to attend - show up. There’s no need to commit right now. I will figure out a way for you to RSVP in the coming weeks.

3. Email me: rcmckeen@hotmail.com . This way, I can create a group of emails and send out updates to you. Even if you don’t know whether or not you can make it right now this will be a great tool for me to get word to you about what is going on. You don’t even have to say “hi” to me, I’ll settle for your email address.

I am going to do everything in my power to keep the price down for you. I hope to be able to price tickets at about $20.00. This will depend on how many people are attending. The more people who attend, the more I will be able to provide for your ticket price.

Let’s work together to make this happen.

Best,

Ryan McKeen

What can I say, I’m eager to get going on this.

I just reserved two private rooms at Boston Billards in West Springfield.

The space will accomodate as few as 35 people and can expand to accomodate as many people who wish to attend.

As it stands now, we have 2 private rooms. If we need more space, they will section off an entire area of the club for our class.

I’ve had functions there in the past and it is a nice place for an event like this.

Dress is casual.

The reunion will be Saturday, November 29, 2008 and 7:00 p.m.

I will keep posting updates on this site.

I will be keeping this as inexpensive as possible.

Check back frequently and let your friends know about this site. I will be promoting it as much as I can on facebook, classmates, and myspace but I need your help to spread the word to make this happen.

Hello Class of 1998

June 11th, 2008

I hope that everyone is doing well.

I created this site as a means to organizing our ten year reunion.

This will be a one stop shop for all reunion information. I will not be doing any traditional means of advertising (i.e. mailings) for the reunion.

Our ten year reunion will not happen without you. I need your advice on where and when to have it.

Right now, I need your help in spreading the word about this website to members of the class of 1998.

Please post comments here. Email me: rcmckeen@hotmail.com and check back frequently for updates.

Also, I would like to compile as many emails as possible from the class. Please send me your email or the email of anyone that you know from the class of 1998.

Any ideas on location? I was thinking somewhere informal with no dinner. Maybe a bar with some bar food?

I’m open to any ideas that you may have.

I hope to make this fun and memorable.

Very Truly Yours,

Ryan  McKeen
